Abstractrgya bod skad rigs dnyis las thun mong du dnas pa'i dpe yis brjod bya dsal bar byed pa'i dpe rgyan ni byung rabs ches snga zhing/ 'jug yul rgya che ba/ 'jug tshul gyi rnam grangs ches mang ba'i mi rigs rang rang gi srol rgyun ldan pa'i tshig rgyun zhig yin/rgya'i dpe rgyan dna' rabs khrun chi'u dus mjug nas yod pa dang bod kyi dpe rgyan snyan ngag me long ma bod la ma bsgyur snyon du yod pa red/ de yang rgya bod dpe rgyan la dpe 'jog tshul rnam pa'i cha nas 'dra ba ni mngon dpe dang lkog dpe/ g.yar dpe/ mtshungs sgra med pa'i dpe rgyan bcas yod kyang/ yig sgyur skabs su dpe rgyan 'di dag skad rigs so so'i sgyu rtsal mtshon thabs la bstun ci nus yig sgyur byed dgos/ Tibetan and Chinese literature share certain ornamental methods; namely those that existed in Tibet prior to the translation of the Mirror of Poetry (Kavyadarsa). The author lists these and then argues that while translating these metaphors, one should abide as closely as possible to the artistic means of expression of the respective language.
