| Abstract | snang sa 'od 'bum gyi rnam thar nang du snang sa'i mi tshe gcig gi las dbang de gzhi byas nas bod mi'i srol rgyun du bud med rnams la go sa dman pa dang/ bod du pho mchog mo dman gyi bsam blo yod tshul de brjod pa ma zad/ bud med zhes pa'i ming tshig 'di byung tshul/ de nas bod rigs bud med rnams kyi mi lus khe dbang dang chab srid khe dbang/ 'tsho gnas khe dbang bcas phyogs gsum nas bod rigs bud med rnams la go gnas med pa de bstan zhing/ de yang deng sang rgyal khab phyi nang du bud med ni mi'i thob thang gtso bo byed pa'i dus 'dir/ bod rig mi dmangs kyi bya ba yag po byed rgyu kha tsha dgos gtug gi gnad don tu gyur yod pa de brjod yod/ The author discusses the poor state of women's rights and the views of men towards women in traditional Tibetan society based on her critical reading of Snang sa 'od 'bum. She also draws on evidence regarding the origins of the word \"woman,\" and urges for greater effort in improving the rights of Tibetan women today. |
